Secretaries Summary - August Edition

In our last report (printed in the Westwell Eye), you may remember that I shared a very exciting update that the Westwell Players would be performing ‘Cinderella in Space’ for our November panto.

Well, like a panto dame’s skirts, we’ve had a change of heart and decided to keep our next show firmly on planet Earth. Instead, we have asked ourselves what any self-respecting amdram troop would ask on the lead up to panto season: What happened to Jack when he came down from the beanstalk?

Luckily writer Andrew Bates has come to the rescue and provided a script that answers that very question.

‘After the Beanstalk’ transports us to Jack’s Garden Centre, built on golden eggs, greed and gossip! But Jack’s world is turned upside down when old enemies return and new plots are hatched. With bumbling staff, a scheming customer service queen, a chatty goose and the giant’s fearsome wife back on the scene, chaos is guaranteed. ‘After the Beanstalk’ is a riotous, family-friendly pantomime packed with laughs, mischief and just a sprinkle of magic.

Will Jack keep his fortune? Or will the beanstalk bring everything crashing down?

I am sure you will all love this show as much as we do, and I can’t wait to bring you more updates from the rehearsal room on the lead up to opening night on the 27th November. Our script read throughs take place on the 12th and 26th August. If you are interested in coming along, please email us at westwellplayers@gmail.com

We hope to see you all at the Westwell Village fete on the 24th August where we will be spreading some Westwell Player’s magic.
